A stay at the Thunderbird Little Cabin is an intimate experience in simple country living. This one-bedroom cabin in the woods features an open-concept living arrangement and can accommodate up to six guests comfortably.
The home exists on a single story, with a full kitchen, a dining room with built-in booth seating and a cozy sitting area with a sofa, two rocking chairs and a television. The single bathroom is equipped with a walk-in shower, and the private bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed. A narrow four-season porch provides a second eating area or card table with bar-height stools and an old-fashioned jukebox. Charming wood-grain finishes and a fireplace warm the interior spaces, while outside, tall trees provide shade and a relaxing, secluded space to unwind.
A ground-level deck offers yet another dining area and a full-sized charcoal grill. Further away from the house, chairs are gathered around a firepit ring. Life at the Little Cabin passes slowly in peace and quiet, offering a unique times-gone-by experience. Best of all, every morning guests can enjoy breakfast at the cabin — ingredients and toppings for homemade pancakes are provided by the hosts.
Sleeping accommodations: A single private sleeping space is furnished with a queen-sized bed; a pull-out sofa in the living area can accommodate two guests, as can the convertible camper-style dining room booth area.
The Small Cabin is a part of the Thunderbird Village, a plot of natural, wooded scenery where rental cabins are set against the backdrop of the old Hatfield Flea Market. The outdoor venue is an important part of the Hatfield touristing tradition and regularly hosts nearly 200 different vendors, selling everything from antiques and memorabilia to handmade soaps and original pottery. It’s also stock-full of great food to sample! The flea market is open on Mothers’ Day Weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, Independence Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.
Thunderbird Village is located within easy walking distance to Lake Arbutus, where visitors can enjoy swimming at the beach, kayaking, fishing and boating. There is even a children’s playground located in the park area. The village provides bicycles, kayaks and canoes for guests to the Little Cabin at no extra charge. There is also a 12-passenger pontoon boat available onsite for rent.
Thunderbird Village is a beautiful and relaxing vacation home base for exploring the surrounding lakes and rivers, taking off down the ATV trails, or visiting the local natural attractions, including Bruce Mound, Castle Mound, Levi’s Mound, Wildcat Mound and the Lake Wazee County Park. At Lake Wazee, visitors can enjoy a unique scuba-diving experience on Wisconsin’s deepest manmade lake.
