Skeeter’s Point Lodge is a traditional-style log-constructed cabin settled between the trees on a private lot in Hayward, Wisconsin. This beautiful 12-person log cabin gives a feeling of seclusion and serenity, while still offering a variety of family attractions and outdoor adventures.
Skeeter’s Point Lodge enjoys private frontage on Nelson Lake, with a level, grassy lawn, a boat dock with a great view, a stone fire pit, and a screen porch and open-air patio perfect for enjoying the calm, natural setting in any weather. You’ll love the sunsets over the water!
The lodge is a spacious large-group vacation home with social spaces spread over two stories. The main level includes a large, cozy great room with a flat-screen TV and a wood-burning stove, as well as a formal dining area and a roomy, modern, fully equipped kitchen.
The great room opens into the screen porch, which serves as a quiet reading area with a plush sofa and chairs, or as a study with a small desk. This room looks directly out onto the wooded lot, with full-height windows on three sides — perfect for capturing a healthy natural light.
Sleeping arrangements: This family lake home has three private bedrooms equipped with a king-sized bed, two queen-sized beds and two sets of bunk beds with twin mattresses lofted over full mattresses. There are also two futons located in shared areas.
NOTE: Towels are not provided at this property.
Skeeter’s Point Lodge has a unique lower-level game room and TV lounge with a second TV, comfortable lounge chairs, card tables, a foosball table and a full-size arcade game. The lower-level recreation areas open onto the home’s stunning three-acre lot and give direct access to the waterfront and 300 feet of private shoreline.
Although this log home between the trees is comfortably set up to accommodate a large group for days inside — the view, amenities and multiple recreation areas make it easy to spread out and enjoy both each other and the space without bumping elbows — many guests will opt to explore the great outdoors beckoning from the windows.
Nelson Lake is just steps from the door at Skeeter’s Point Lodge, offering great fishing, sunbathing, swimming and paddling. The lake covers more than 2,500 acres and is home to walleye, panfish, large and smallmouth bass and Northern Pike. Cast a line from the private dock or bring your own boat to get access to the full depth of the water.
Wooded trails are available on private property all around the cabin. Meanwhile, the larger area of Hayward is home to the infamous Northwoods CAMBA Trails, offering hundreds of miles of natural scenery that’s open for hiking, biking, trail running, snowmobiling and ATVs. These trails host a number of popular competitions such as the Fat Tire Birkie.
Other notable events to plan around in Hayward include the Chequamegon Fat tire Festival, the Mt. Borah Epic, The Chequamegon 100, The Seeley Lions Pre-Fat, The Lumberjack (and Jill) World Championships, Musky Fest and the Sawyer County Fair. Whenever you decide to visit, you can enjoy the local taverns, golf courses, museums and live music.
