Moose and Musky Retreat is a stately Northwoods lodge with a vintage atmosphere. Constructed from exposed cedar beams, this upscale cabin in the woods features 14-foot ceilings and a real wood-burning stone fireplace.
This four-bedroom, three bath vacation home is three stories high, with a large social living space on the main floor and private bedrooms grouped above. The open floor plan on the main story includes a beautiful lodge-style great room, a full kitchen and a dining area.
Moose and Musky Retreat also features a screen porch with a picnic table, canoe and family recreation room in the garage complete with a pool table, a poker table, and a selection of board games.
Sleeping arrangements: The master bedroom is located on the uppermost level, with a queen-sized bed, a private balcony with a lake view, and a three-quarters bath. Two additional bedrooms on the second story are furnished with a queen-sized bed, a set of bunkbeds with a twin-sized bed lofted over a queen-sized bed, and a free-standing twin-sized bed.
The final bedroom is located in the basement, with four twin-sized beds featuring custom water ski headboards.
NOTE: Towels are not provided at this property.
One of Moose & Musky Retreat’s best features is the expansive walk-out sun deck that looks out over scenic Moose Lake. There is about 75 feet of gently sloping lawn between the cabin and the shoreline, where guests enjoy complete privacy and an excellent view. You can also enjoy the lake breeze on warm summer nights from the cabin’s vaulted-ceiling screen porch.
Guests to the remote Moose & Musky Retreat in Hayward, WI, have direct access to 1,559-acre Moose Lake and its 360-feet of sandy natural shoreline. This body of water is fun to explore in paddle boats. It’s also great for fishing — cast a line and you may come up with musky panfish, walleye or bass.
This luxury cabin has two private docks for guests to use and is conveniently located just down the road from a public boat launch. Aside from fishing, swimming, and picnicking on the beaches of a number of natural lakes and rivers in the area, Hayward is a lively northern Wisconsin vacation spot.
Tourists come year-round to enjoy hiking, biking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, four-wheeling and snowmobiling on the vast CAMBA trail network that runs through the Chequamegon national forest. Hayward is also home to fun family attractions such as golf courses, local museums and the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.
Best of all, Hayward hosts dozens of famous competitions and events, including the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, the Mt. Borah Epic, the Chequamegon 100, the Fat Tire Birkie, the Seeley Lions Pre-Fat, the Lumberjack World Championships, the Sawyer County Fair and an annual Musky Fest.
