H’s Place is a modern, two-story cabin with a walk-out basement, set back into a private, wooded lot on the edge of Teal Lake. From its vantage point on a hill overlooking the wood-slat path to the lake and the mature pines, H’s Place has a beautiful view and a pleasant lake breeze.
On the main level, a spacious, open-concept floorplan keeps things light and airy, with tall windows and wood beams connecting a full kitchen with breakfast bar and four stools, a large formal dining area with seating for six, and a cozy living room furnished with a leather sofa and reading chairs gathered around a stone fireplace. On the lower level, an open recreation space encompasses a kitchenette with a bar and stools, a second lounge area with a flat-screen TV, and a felt-topped poker table. The finished basement opens out onto a stone patio, with a wooden balcony suspended above, complete with outdoor dining space.
Sleeping Arrangements: Three private bedrooms at H’s Place are furnished with a queen-sized bed, a queen-sized bed and a twin-sized bed, and a queen-sized bed and a set of twin-sized bunk beds. There is also a full-sized futon in the lower-level recreation room.
NOTE: Towels are not provided at this property.
H’s Place is connected to Teal Lake by a wooden walkway through the trees, which leads to the property’s private-access dock, with a bench, a rowboat and a kayak. H’s Place lays claim to 300 feet of private shoreline, which offers excellent fishing opportunities. Guests casting a line from the dock or the shore can expect to encounter musky, pan fish, bass, walleye and pike. Guests can further enjoy the yard and the view with a permanent, lakeside fire pit.
Teal Lake is home to several public-access islands with sandy swimming beaches and outdoor picnic areas. Guests can take a day trip to the islands in the property’s provided rowboat and enjoy the sand, sun and water on a quiet mini island. Teal Lake connects to Lost Land Lake by navigable channel, providing visitors with double the acreage to explore, without having to portage over land.
The lakes and the greater Hayward area are hemmed in by the trees of the Chequamegon Nicolet National forest, which is teeming with a wide variety of wildlife, including timber wolves, black bear, deer, elk and birds of prey. Stealthy paddlers may catch a glimpse of these timid neighbors from the water, along with a healthy population of loons, beaver and river otter.
The national forest is also home to interlocking systems of nature trails, such as the Wilson Lake Trail and the CAMBA Trails. These trails as well as a series of gravel forest roads are well maintained and in use year-round, for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ATVs. Hayward also offers the Hayward National and The Big Fish golf courses, among others, along with mini golfing, go-cart racing, local museums and novelty spectacles, and a large selection of dining, tavern and shopping experiences.
