Outside, you'll find a Weber grill, picnic table, and lawn chairs perfect for enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Our cabins are furnished with all the amenities you need to feel at home, including free Wi-Fi, a tennis court, and free use of kayaks, paddle boards, and paddle boats. For those who love fishing, Lake George is a haven for a wide variety of fish species, including muskie, northern pike, walleye, bass, crappie, perch, and bluegill. We provide guests with lake maps and a 14-foot boat with each cottage, and our fish cleaning building with running water and lights is the perfect place to prepare your catch.
If you're looking to explore the Northwoods, you'll find a wealth of activities just a short drive away. From zip lining and zoos to museums and mini golf, there's something for everyone. Right in Rhinelander, you'll find plenty of things to do, including golf courses, movie theaters, hiking and biking trails, horseback riding, and a variety of great stores and restaurants. And if you're looking to spend a day on the water, our pontoon boats are available for rent, giving you the opportunity to fish, swim, or just cruise the beautiful Lake George.
Unique features that set Brekke’s Resort Cottage apart from other vacation rentals are hard to beat. Guests can unwind in the bar and recreation building, which houses a fully stocked bar, pool, ping pong, pinball, darts, video games, and one of the last record playing jukeboxes around. Open every night, it's the perfect place for guests to enjoy a drink and get to know each other. In addition, the bar also serves delicious pizzas and snacks, ensuring that guests have everything they need for a memorable vacation.
Rhinelander, Wisconsin and its surrounding areas offer visitors a variety of activities to enjoy during their stay. The resort itself has plenty of onsite recreation, including a tennis court and free use of kayaks, paddle boards, and paddle boats. But if you're looking to venture out, there are plenty of options nearby. Take a short drive to the Bearskin State Trail, which runs for 18 miles and is perfect for a hike or a bike ride on its crushed granite surface. Don't forget your state trail pass!
If you're interested in nature hikes, make sure to check out the Birdwatching Trail. Located off Boyce Drive west of the Pelican River, this trail is less than a mile but is considered one of the most beautiful places in the area to take a nature hike. It offers an opportunity to see a variety of birds in their natural habitat, making it perfect for birdwatchers of all levels.
For those interested in exploring nearby towns, take a short drive to Minocqua or Eagle River, both of which offer unique and interesting shops and restaurants. Annual events in the area include the Hodag Country Festival, which takes place every July and features top country music acts, and the Beef-A-Rama, a festival that celebrates the area's beef industry and takes place in September. With so much to do and see in and around Rhinelander, you'll never run out of things to explore during your vacation.

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying two nights in September at Brekke's Fireside Resort and enjoyed every minute of our short stay. (We were on our way home from a longer stay in Copper Harbor and this was the perfect mid-way point to rest and relax on our journey.) It was our first time through the Rhinelander area and hopefully not our last. We were glad for the quiet and peacefulness we found at the resort, although I could well envision what it must be like mid-summer with families all coming together for their annual visits. It's what I remember with the fondest of memories of family vacations growing up in northern Wisconsin. We loved our cabin. It had everything we could have asked for and looked and felt exactly like what I think a cabin should. And, quite frankly, I've never seen such a well-stocked kitchen anywhere! The lake is beautiful; the grounds are well kept. The Brekke family, wonderful hosts. We look forward to a return (albeit longer) visit next time. Mary Jo MJ Wiseman

We had such a relaxing time celebrating our anniversary at Brekke's! The cabins are very quaint and so close to the lake. It was exactly what we were looking for. The owners are all very nice and helpful, and having an adorable golden retriever meandering around always wins extra bonus points from us. Would definitely recommend it and want to come back soon! This place is special! Our family has been reuniting at Brekke’s for almost 40 years now. The quaint cabins, large beachfront, and the infamous bobcat in the bar, all bring a sense of joy and nostalgia! This is my second home and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to relax and soak in the Northwoods! Scott Weidner
