If you’re looking to combine a love for history and the outdoors, head through downtown to visit St. John Mine and the Badger Hut Trail. St. John Mine is a cave mined during the “Lead Rush.” Tours of the mine are available daily. The Badger Hut Trail winds through the woodlands and occasionally opens up for hikers to view the Mississippi River.
It wouldn’t truly be a Wisconsin cabin stay without spending time on the river. Tube the Mississippi River with Grant River Tubin Co. Or post up for the day on a beach. Afterward, squeeze in a round of golf at one of the many golf courses in the area.
While staying in Potosi, be sure to take the scenic 19-mile drive to Cassville, WI. Cassville is a common stop for bald eagles during their migration and is considered the best place in the midwest to view them. Take the short ferry ride across the Mississippi River to explore the riverside towns in Iowa.
