The forest has over 2,000 miles of streams snaking through its interior. Enjoy trout fishing in 1400 miles of the streams, or fish the lakes for a good chance of bass, musky and panfish. Also enjoy the many rugged trails for mountain biking and horseback riding.
ATV/UTV enthusiast: The Flambeau Trails System offers a vast trail system. Some of the cabins and lodges in Butternut are on snowmobile trails - some of the nicest you’ll ever ride. Over hundreds of miles of WI northwoods trails. Enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Don’t forget Pioneer days, a Butternut festival that’s hosts live music, baseball tournaments, races and horse pulls along with a parade and carnival. Shop the Flea Market during the summer months. Enjoy the Flambeau Rama, a terrific time with the locals with tournaments, parades, carnivals and live music - all withing a few minutes from your cabin or cottage. Participate in the Flambeau 40, and the Roughed Grouse Fall Festival.
