There is also an ice fishing contest, activities for the kids and live entertainment. Musky Day Jamboree in August has a Fun Run, arts and crafts, live entertainment, contests, kid’s activities, and fireworks. Enjoy other festivals such as fall festivals and the North woods Art Tour.
Other things to do nearby your Boulder Junction cabin is play a round of golf at the Trout Lake and Country Club golf course and afterwards get your dinner at a great place like Aqualand Ale House (20 craft beers on tap) and also there is Boulder Beer Bar and Smokey’s Supper Club - then return to your private and rustic resort, not a hotel room. Birding is pretty popular here too. Witness geese, goldeneyes, robins, bald eagles and black birds. There is much more to see for wildlife if you follow the Crystal Lake Trail or the Escanaba-Pallette Lakes Trail which winds through wetlands, valleys and forests; no bicycles allowed on these trails. However, you can mountain bike and explore the Lumberjack Trail.
There are two sandy beaches nearby at the Crystal Lake beach and the Nichols Beach. Try your hand at Geocaching, it is loads of fun. For more cabin time adventure, try the Grassy Creek Ranch, a great place to actually ride a horse, as it gallops, trots, and jumps over the trail. To see the Northwoods Scenic roads sans horseback, drive the 12-mile Rustic Road 60, Boulder Junction to Star Lake.
