Your family will enjoy the serenity of Lake John while vacationing in our comfortable and clean vertical log lakefront home. The light-filled dining room in the cottage with its large windows lets you eat while watching for wildlife outside at this private, secluded waterfront property.
A short set of stairs takes you right out to the 42’ dock. Relax in the chairs by the dock or take in the beautiful sunrise over the 102-acre lake on the dock benches sipping your morning coffee. Or bring down a home-cooked meal from the fully-equipped kitchen (coffee maker, dishes, utensils, microwave, oven, refrigerator, store, toaster, and pantry items) and watch the sunset while eating dinner on the outdoor picnic table.
The cottage also provides comfortable seating and indoor family entertainment including books, a CD player/stereo, video library, toys and games. The dining room seats eight.
Sleeping arrangements: Bedroom 1: double bed. Bedroom 2: double bed and bunk bed. Bedroom 3: 2 bunk beds; plus a convertible couch.
A fire pit near the shoreline comes with firewood to create a comfortable evening of activities by the fire and star gazing. The children in the family will have fun on the swing set, in the sandbox, or playing a game of badminton or volleyball in the grassy backyard court complete with equipment. Bicycles, an outdoor grill and an eight-foot picnic table provide more entertainment options.
The Lake John cabin rental includes a fishing boat with oars and life jackets. The dock has benches and a live box for fish. A badminton/volleyball court with equipment and bicycles provide many options for family fun. No pets are allowed in the cabin because they have their own igloo-style dog house inside a four foot high by sixteen foot round fenced area.
Boating, fishing, swimming and water sports are right at your front door. Spend a morning at the 18-hole, par 70, McCauslin Brook Golf Course in Lakewood with its full-line pro shop and experience its gorgeous greens amidst the Nicolet National Forest. Or take the family for a game of miniature golf at the Sleepy Hollow Miniature Golf course located five minutes away in Townsend.
Only a fifteen-minute drive from your waterfront cabin is the 89-mile Nicolet State Trail winding through the forest to the state line of Michigan. Try hiking, mountain biking or ATVing on the trail - hunting and trapping on the trail aren’t allowed. The Potawatomi Carter Casino is only a short 30-minute drive away for evening entertainment.
An hour’s drive from your vacation cabin is the Take the Reins Horse Ranch in Oconto for horseback riding.

This was our first experience at renting privately owned property for a family vacation and we couldn't have been happier. First off, the rental is absolutely perfect for families, particularly large families. It is nice, but so fancy that you feel like you can't enjoy yourselves. Oh, and what a peaceful area and lake! We already miss our sunrises and sunsets on the dock and the smiles on the faces of our kids in the boat paddling around. Secondly, it is great that it is very private and secluded, but if you need things, the Super V is a very nice larger grocery store 5 minutes away and laundry mat close by the store as well. We have pizza the one night we weren't cooking out and found Golden Eagle pizza to be pretty tasty. The candy store in town is fantastic not to mention a few other places to browse, but we definitely liked the whole no-commercialism aspect of this area. We drove to Antigo for a movie one evening, but that was it. We mostly just wanted to stay out at the cottage and enjoy the woods and fantastic views of wildlife right there on the property. We highly recommend this for any family vacation. Dan K. Source: Vacation Rental By Owner

We love this property and this lake. We know you will be hooked too! Lake John has two public boat landings and great fishing. The cottage also has a fishing boat, oars and life jackets to launch right from the cottage’s dock. Anglers can stow their prize catches in the convenient live box on the dock.
